Where It All Began

What do you do during a pandemic when you’re self-employed and suddenly have no work?

You bake granola.

When lockdown began, my work as a full-time freelance sign language interpreter came to a halt. With four tween children home full-time and my wife working remotely, I needed to do something — something that brought joy during a very uncertain time. So I started experimenting with granola recipes. The batches barely had time to cool before they were gone. Friends started saying things like, “You should sell this,” and “I’ll never buy store-bought granola again.”

That small spark became Happiness is… Granola.

More Than Food

As our business grew, so did our purpose.

We meshed our two lives into one — combining a passion for great food with a deep commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Today, Happiness is… Granola creates a delicious, healthy, clean product that is gluten-free, organic, and vegan, while intentionally building an ASL-accessible, deaf-friendly workplace.

Accessibility isn’t an add-on for us.
It’s how we design our systems, train our team, and grow our business.
